Michael Carrick admits he has been impressed with Angel Gomes and Tatith Chong and has described the young Manchester United duo as ‘real talent’.
Gomes is considered one of United’s top academy prospects and was given his senior debut in United’s final Premier League game last season.
The 17-year-old also impressed in his only appearance for Mourinho’s side this season – the 4-0 win over Yeovil Town in the FA Cup in January.
Chong, meanwhile, has not made his senior debut but the 18-year-old has regularly impressed at Under-23 level and has trained with United’s first team on occasions.
Carrick will be part of Jose Mourinho’s coaching staff next season once he calls time on his playing career at the end of this campaign, and the midfielder is relishing the prospect of helping United’s young stars.
‘I look at the crop of good young lads here, real, real talent: Marcus [Rashford], Luke [Shaw], Jesse [Lingard], Anthony [Martial], Rom [Lukaku], Angel [Gomes], young Chong [Tahith Chong],’ Carrick told The Times.
